Ingrients & Directions


6 c Baking apples 3 tb All-purpose flour
Sliced peeled(5 to 6 1 ts Ground cinnamon
Medium) 1/4 ts Ground nutmeg
2 tb Water 1/8 ts Ground ginger
1 tb Lemon juice 1/8 ts Salt
1/2 c Sugar Pastry for double-crust pie
1/2 c Packed brown sugar (9 inches)

In a saucepan, combine apples, water and lemon juice; cook over
medium-low heat jusl until the apples are tender. Remove from the
heat and cool (do not drain). In a large bowl, combine sugars, flour,
cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt; add apples and toss to coat. Place
bottom pastry in pie plate; add apple mixture. Cover with top pastry;
seal and flute edges. Cut slits in top crust. Bake at 450 deg. for 10
minutes. Reduce heat to 350 deg.; bake 35-45 minutes longer or until
golden brown. Yield: 6-8 servings
