Ingrients & Directions


1 c Quick oats
1/2 c Butter or margarine
1 1/4 c Boiling water
2 Eggs well beaten
1 c Sugar
1 c Brown sugar
1 ts Vanilla
1 1/2 c Flour
1 ts Baking soda
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 ts Ginger
1/2 ts Allspice
1/2 ts Salt
1/4 ts Cloves

FROSTING
1/2 c Brown sugar
1/4 c Melted butter
3 tb Milk
3/4 c Shredded coconut
1/3 c Nuts

Combine oats, butter and boiling water. Set aside for 20 minutes. Beate
together the eggs , sugars and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and add, 13x 9
inch baking pan. Bake at 350 F for 30 to 35 minutes. or until an inserted
toothpick comes out clean. Cool for a few minutes. Then combine frosting
ingredients, spread on cake and place under a broiler for one minute or
until frosting begins to bubble.
