1 3/4 c Cake flour 1/2 c Buttermilk
1 c Sugar 1/4 c Vegetable oil
1/3 c Cocoa 1/4 c Applesauce
1 ts Baking powder 1 ts Vanilla extract
1 ts Baking soda 3/4 c Hot water
1/2 ts Salt

———————–QUICK CHOCOLATE FROSTING———————–
2 tb Butter; softened 3 tb Boiling water
1 3/4 c Confectioners’ sugar 1/2 ts Vanilla extract
3 tb Cocoa

Preheat the oven to 350?F. Spray a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick
cooking spray. In a large bowl, stir together the flour, sugar,
cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Add the buttermilk, oil,
applesauce and vanilla, then the water. Beat on medium speed of an
electric mixer until well blended. Pour the batter into the prepared
pan. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until a wooden pick inserted in the
center comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan or on a wire rack.

** Quick Chocolate Frosting ** In a medium bowl, beat the softened
butter, gradually adding the confectioners’ sugar and cocoa
alternately with boiling water and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth
and of the desired consistency.
