Ingrients & Directions


1 c Raisins, seedless 1 ts Baking powder
1/2 c Shortening 1 ts Salt
1 c Sugar 1/2 ts Soda
1 tb Orange rind; grated 2/3 c Buttermilk
1 ts Vanilla extract 1 tb Orange rind; grated
2 Eggs; well beaten 1/2 c Sugar
2 c Flour, cake; sifted 1/3 c Orange juice

Rinse and drain raisins. Cream together shortening and sugar. Blend
in rind, flavoring, and well-beaten eggs. Sift together flour,
baking powder, salt, and soda, and add to creamed mixture alternately
with buttemrilk. Stir in raisins. Pour into greased 8″ square pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. Blend together orange
rind, 1/2 cup sugar, and orange juice for topping. Pour over cake as
soon as it is removed from oven. Cool in pan.
